The IREK project is a collaborative research project between partners from:
- Aalborg University, Denmark – Department of Business and Management (lead)
- The African Centre for Technology Studies, Kenya
- Moi University, Kenya – Department of Engineering and Department of Business
With a team of 10 researchers, the project undertakes research and capacity-building work aimed at analysing innovation and renewable electrification in Kenya with a focus on solar photovoltaic and wind power.

The project is a five-year project supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Grant: DFC: 14-09AAU) . Research will take place in Denmark, Kenya, China and Germany between the 1st of January 2015 and the 31st December 2019.
