The IREK project is a collaborative research project between partners from:
- Aalborg University, Denmark – Department of Business and Management (lead)
- Moi University, Kenya – Department of Engineering and Department of Business
- The African Centre for Technology Studies, Kenya
With a team of 10 researchers, the project undertakes research and capacity-building work aimed at analysing innovation and renewable electrification in Kenya with a focus on solar photovoltaic and wind power.

The project is a five-year project funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Research will take place in Denmark, Kenya, China and Germany between the 1st of January 2015 and the 31st December 2019.
